SWIMWEAR
SIRENA SWIM is a sustainable, conscious, and eco-friendly swimwear line ethically produced in Bali. We are part of the slow fashion revolution raising awareness and serving conscious consumers. We are taking part in changing the fashion industry for the betterment of the garment workers and our planet.
We believe in supporting the world economy and doing things where it is done best. With that said, no one produces swimwear like Bali! Our production facility in Bali adheres to ethical guidelines providing above average wages, health care for all workers and their families. As well as a safe, healthy, and happy working conditions. We hope to travel back soon to document our time with them developing our next swimwear line. Working with the Balinese is a true pleasure and we have enjoyed forming a relationship with them. Their work and craftsmanship is top notch.
MATERIAL + PROCESS
Our premium Italian swimwear fabric is made with 100% recycled nylon from post-consumer waste materials such as; commercial fishing nets, industrial plastic waste, and fabric scraps. When tested in real life conditions it proved itself to be more resistant to chlorine, suntan creams and oils, and fading than competitors fabrics. The regenerated nylon is paired with Italian lycra and made in Italy to bring you the highest quality premium earth friendly fabric.
JEWELRY+ ADORNMENT
Hand-sculpted and woven finery. Each piece is individually hand-crafted and created with core materials of silk, precious metal clay, and porcelain. Made with traditional knotting, weaving, and sculpting techniques in a modern and raw application. Laurie considers herself a sculptural 3D artist with several beloved mediums. She produces all work without the use of casting and molds. Each piece is individually formed. She approaches her work as an evolving story and collective. The tales she weaves are just as important as her wares. A born storyteller, Laurie is continually drawing inspiration from various cultures, travel, music, and divine intervention. Timeless, refined, conscious, and one-of-a-kind. She believes in making a lot out of a little in life and art and that philosophy is reflected in work.
MATERIAL + PROCESS
Designed and handmade in coastal New Jersey in Laurie's in home studio. Each piece is handwoven and sculpted by Laurie utilizing fibrous and naturally occurring materials to create unique pieces. Although part of a collection each piece is one-of-a-kind and will vary slightly do to the nature of the handmade process. Each piece is individually crafted and sculpted and does not utilize molds or casting. This process makes each piece an original.
CARE
Fair trade reclaimed Indian silk sari: As with all handmade, silk, and vintage material, please treat the pieces gently and with care. The fabric variations and imperfections are meant to bring character and authenticity, making them truly one of a kind. As you wear your pieces, they will soften and break in, just like a quality pair of leather boots. The evolution of the piece is a story and a journey. The pieces should be hung on a hanger or hook, or laid flat when not worn. They are also welcome to join you for a swim in the sea. Each piece should be rinsed with fresh water and properly hung to dry. As with any material it will soften, change, and fade with the sun and salt. How you wear and wear-in your piece is entirely up to you. Handle with love and care.
Porcelain: Ceramic clay body that is durable, resilient, and wearable -- yet delicate by nature. Simple and sweet. Formed, sculpted, fired, and glazed. As with all ceramic handle with care.
Bronze Precious Metal Clay: Precious metal in the form of clay is fired in in-house kiln, sanded, and polished to form solid metal. Bronze age strength and durability, but lightweight and comfortable. Allow for piece to achieve desired patina, or shine with a polishing cloth.
